Turning on Auto-Update for Java

  1. If you are using Windows 7, type the word Java in the Search programs and files field on the Start menu. If you are using Windows 8, type the word Java on the start page.

  2. From the results list, select Configure Java.

  3. On the Java Control Panel, click the Update tab.

  4. You can either have Java notify you before downloading or before installing. The important thing to do is to check the box for Check for Updates Automatically. The Advanced... button allows you to set the dates/times that Java will check for updates. You can also have Java immediately check for updates by clicking the Update Now button.

  5. Once you are satisfied with your choices, click OK.
