Using OnLine Help

The OnLine Help System is made up of three distinct areas:

The Toolbar and Navigator

There are six toolbar options:

Contents: Clicking the Contents tab allows you to access help topics through a table of contents. Clicking on the folder icon opens the contents of that folder. The contents of a folder might be another folder or a topic . Think of a folder as a chapter heading and each topic as a page within the chapter. To close an open folder, simply click on the folder icon a second time. Clicking on either a folder or topic icon displays information in the Topic panel (see below). Since the Folders and topics are designed to match the StaffSuite interface, the Contents option is a great way to quickly find information.

Index: Clicking the Index icon allows you to access help topics through an index (much like the index in the back of a book). You can either type in the word you want to find (and the index will display the closest match) or you can simply scroll through the alphabetical index. To display the topic, simply click on the index entry.  In addition, some of the index entries end in certain words or characters indicating what the entry represents:

If the entry ends in...

It means the index entry represents...

Thus, you can find information on any field, button, column, box, etc., in StaffSuite by simply looking up its name.

Search: Clicking the Search icon allows you to search each topic for the existence of a particular word. This is useful if the information you are looking for could not be found in the Contents or the Index. Type the word you are searching for and click the Go button (or just hit Enter on your keyboard). You can then click the topic to display it. You can select the number of results to display on each page using the "Search results per page" field.

Print: Clicking the Print icon allows you to print the topic currently displayed in the topic panel. A standard print window allows you to select the print to which you want to print.

Logo: Clicking on the StaffSuite logo takes you to the Bond-us website. The website displays in the Topic panel. To get back to the Help, you can either use the back button on your browser or you can click on a topic in the left-hand navigator.

Search: This option performs exactly like the Search option above. It simply allows you to run a search without having to move out of the Contents or Index.

NOTE: You can close the Navigator (left hand panel) to create more room for the Topic panel by clicking . To reopen the navigator simply click one of the icons in the toolbar.

The Topic

The Topic displays the informational topic found by using the Contents, Index or Search. It also displays Bond's website if you click on the logo. The header displays the topic name, the body includes information about the topic and the footer contains links to similar topics. Underlined words in the body of the topic contain links to other topics. Simply click on the underlined word(s) to take you there. Italicized and underlined text contains hidden text. Simply click on the italicized, underlined text to display the hidden text.

In addition, there are some standard buttons in the header to help you navigate through the system. If a button does not appear on a topic, then that option is not available.

ICON

What it means...

Takes you to this page. It is useful if you have forgotten how to use some aspect of the OnLine Help system.

Takes you to a screen shot and field definitions. This is helpful if you don't want general information about a topic, but instead an explanation of a field displayed on the screen.

Takes you back to the main topic from a screen shot/field definition topic. This is helpful since the Back button only takes you to the last navigation item accessed (and you might have navigated often through a single topic window).

Takes you to a page with extra information about the topic. This page normally has common questions about the topic.

Takes you back to the main topic from an extra information topic. This is helpful since the Back button only takes you to the last navigation item accessed (and you might have navigated often through a single topic window).
