Automatically Calculating Overtime and Doubletime by State

Some TimeKeeper timesheet formats are designed to automatically calculate overtime and doubletime based on the rules of the state where the employee works. As the employee's time is entered into the TimeKeeper timesheet, the hours that exceed the maximum set for regular time will automatically "bump up" into overtime and doubletime. The first state supported is California which has complex rules for correctly calculating timesheets with overtime and doubletime. Future releases will incorporate other state rules.

Rules for California:

1. • hours worked over 8 hrs/day are applied to overtime

   • hours worked over 12 hrs/day are applied to doubletime

   • hours worked over 40 hrs/week are applied to overtime

On the seventh consecutive day of work:

1. • the first 8 hrs are applied to overtime

   • all hours over 8 are applied to doubletime
