How to Use OnLine Help

Create Reporting Summary accumulates all of the pertinent information needed to create quarterly and yearly reports and assembles it into a bucket for easy access by the Create Submission File and Create Forms File procedures. Thus, this is the first step in the process of creating government reports.

This window allows you to set the parameters for the government reporting summary file.

Creating a Reporting Summary

  1. In the Report Type field, use to select the type of report for which you are creating this reporting summary. This defaults to Quarterly, but can be changed. Your options are as follows:

  2. Pennsylvania Local Monthly: Used for Pennsylvania Act 32 reporting

  3. Pennsylvania Local Quarterly: Used for Pennsylvania reporting

  4. Quarterly Report: Used when creating a summary for quarterly reporting

  5. Annual Diagnostics: Used before creating the actual annual summary file enabling you to correct any incorrect or incomplete information

  6. Annual: Used when creating a summary for annual (W2/1099) reporting

  1. In the Corporation field, use to select the corporation for which you are creating this reporting summary. This defaults to the home branch of the user running the process, but can be changed.

  2. In the Month field, use to select the month for which you are creating this reporting summary. If you did not select Pennsylvania Local Monthly as your Report Type, this field will be grayed out.

  3. In the Quarter field, use to select the quarter for which you are creating this quarterly reporting summary. This defaults to the last quarter, but can be changed. Valid quarter dates are as follows:

  4. First Quarter: January 1 through March 31

  5. Second Quarter: April 1 through June 30

  6. Third Quarter: July 1 through September 30

  7. Fourth Quarter: October 1 through December 31

NOTE: If you selected Pennsylvania Local Monthly, Annual or Annual Diagnostic as your report type, this field will be grayed out and non-editable.

  1. In the Year field, enter the year for which you are creating this reporting summary. This defaults to the current year (if Quarterly or Pennsylvania Local Quarterly is selected as the report type) or the previous year (if Annual or Annual Diagnostics is selected as the report type).

You will receive a warning if the year selected is more than 1 year in the past (if you select Annual or Annual Diagnostics as the report type) or if the year is not the current year and the quarter is not the fourth quarter (if you select Quarterly or Pennsylvania Local Quarterly as the report type).

  1. When you are satisfied with the information you have entered, click to create the reporting summary. If you decide to close the window without creating a reporting summary, click .

NOTE: The system will warn you if a summary file already exists for the parameters selected. You will be given the option of overriding the current file or of cancelling the new reporting summary.
