Federal Levy System Administration > Federal Levy |
The Federal Levy screens allows you to set-up federal levy amounts for the categories of single, married filing jointly, head of household, and married filing separately. StaffSuite uses this information when calculating levy deductions.
Each year, the federal government issues updated tables for calculating the amounts that are exempt from levies on wages, salaries, and other incomes. These tables are based on levy filing status. When you receive an order to take a deduction from an employee's wages for a levy, you set up a new deduction for that employee, and indicate the appropriate levy filing status. The payroll process then uses this information to compute the correct deduction amount.
Federal Levy information is distributed each year using IRS Publication 1494. Click here to access the IRS home page (www.irs.gov).
NOTE: In StaffSuite, levies refer ONLY to federal levies. A "state levy" is entered as a garnishment.
